Melissa Howell provides strategic direction for higher ed, business and community development initiatives, including direct consultation on targeted projects.
She has consulted for foundations, grant-making institutions and capacity-building organizations for many clients including the Ford Foundation, the ELMA Philanthropies Services Inc., Frontline Solutions, and the Africa-America Institute. Prior to working in the philanthropic sector, she worked with industry leaders providing global systems design with Pfizer, Inc. and other notable strategic initiatives with Ford Motor Company.
Melissa is a regular contributor to the Africa-America Institute newsletter. Melissa's first published article on leadership development appears in Learning for Life: How Continuous Education Will Keep Us Competitive in the Global Economy (AMACOM).
Melissa serves on the boards of the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts and the BlackStar Film Festival. Melissa proudly holds an MA in Migration and Diaspora Studies from the University of London's School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS). She also proudly holds an MBA, BS in Business Administration, and BA in Spanish from Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University (FAMU).
